Development Update – May 5
May 5, 2011
My last post on March 11 talked about the upcoming release of Sencha’s ExtJs 4.0 libraries.
Finally, ExtJs 4.0 was released last week and this will now allow development of the QuickSilver libraries to resume.
I plan to move the QuickSilver blog from WordPress to one of my own sites probably in early June. This will allow both discussion and interaction with the tools to occur in a common environment.
The goal is to create a Smalltalk-like environment for rapid development of Internet-based applications.
I will be posting more details in a couple of weeks.

Hello Peter,
Can you please provide an update about Silver Smalltalk running on Javascript. When do you plan on having the debugger operational? Thank you.

I hope this project isn’t dead. The idea of manipulating Ext widgets with Smalltalk is very exciting…

Peter, I hope you took a long vacation or something, because I am sure I am not the only one eagerly awaiting further developments on the QuickSilver Smalltalk front. Hope to hear from you soon!

Hi Peter,
I haven’t done any further work on QuickSilver-Smalltalk since May.
However, I have created a “Smalltalk-like” environment for PHP called “SIMPL/PHP” and an AI environment called “FRED” (Frame Engine Developer) in Clojure running on Heroku.
I may do some more work on QuickSilver in the next few months.
